General's Office ~ The Society of the Cincinnati Room

General's Office

The information available about the floor plan of the original Montpelier does not make it clear what function this small room served. Currently the museum is using this room to showcase Knox's involvement with the Society of the Cincinnati. This fraternal organization of American and French Revolutionary War officers and their descendants was the brainchild of Henry Knox, who was eager for a formal organization to continue the close friendships he had forged during the Revolution
